Welcome to the School of Engineering

The School of Engineering has a long-established international reputation for the education of engineers.  It provides excellent opportunities for students in a tremendous learning environment, and also for creative and talented students from undergraduate to postgraduate masters, doctoral and postdoctoral levels.

Today, the School consists of four disciplines; Biomedical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. We offer 4-year BE and 5-year integrated ME degrees in all of these areas, as well as BE and ME degrees in Energy Systems.  We also offer a BSc in Project and Construction Management along with other specialist degrees at masters level.

World-leading research is at the heart of the School of Engineering and we offer PhD and research masters degrees. Your learning experience is enhanced by this spirit of inquiry, as you are taught by academics who are bringing the latest ideas and discoveries into the lecture theatre, in both physical and virtual settings

At the School of Engineering, we are committed to delivering top quality teaching to our students and our Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning enables lecturers to keep up-to-date with their latest teaching practices. Our students use Blackboard, the Virtual Learning Environment, to enhance their educational experience, to access learning resources and to share knowledge.  This virtual classroom has transformed the way in which we have been able to interact with and keep in close touch with our students, particularly in this era with restricted face-to-face opportunities.

A qualification from the School of Engineering helps you to distinguish yourself in a competitive job market. It also enables you to develop the specialist skills you need to succeed in your chosen field. Our graduates are well regarded by employers and find employment soon after completing their programmes. All of our engineering degrees are fully accredited by Engineers Ireland and as such, they have international recognition through the Washington Accord, thus improving the mobility of our graduates.

We look forward to welcoming you to the School of Engineering and our award winning Alice Perry Engineering Building where you will be at the forefront of developments in engineering education.
